An update to our Australia - China services

An update to our Australia - China services

In light of the latest information released by the Federal Government over the weekend on the coronavirus outbreak, we wanted to provide you with an update on how changes to our operation impact freight so you can plan accordingly.

You may be aware that we announced a suspension of our two direct passenger services between mainland China and Australia (Sydney-Beijing* and Sydney-Shanghai) from 9 February until 29 March 2020. However, our Qantas 747-8F freighter services will continue to operate as normal during this period other than the usual Chinese New Year changes previously published. All passenger and freighter services between Australia and Hong Kong are also operating as scheduled, with our 767F returning from planned maintenance in mid February 2020.

Of course, the safety of our people, together with all those working to help support our operation around the world, remains our top priority. Daily risk assessments are in place across the Qantas Group, leveraging updated advice from the World Health Organisation and Australian medical authorities. We will continue to send updates as changes occur.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to address this challenge to our industry.

* Qantas services to Beijing were due to cease operating on 22 February 2020.
