Customs changes for exports to China

Be prepared by providing all the information needed to ensure your shipment is compliant.

Regulatory updates

Due to regulatory customs changes for exports to China, you're now required to provide extra information electronically before lodging your shipment to ensure compliance. These requirements apply to all customers sending air freight to China.  

Freight that hasn’t had its data supplied electronically will no longer be accepted.  

To help you along, we’ve outlined the changes below.

Changes to exports 

Additional shipment information is required for both the Master Airway Bill (MAWB) and House Airway Bill (HAWB). HAWB data is mandatory for consolidated shipments.

Shipper

Telephone or fax number - email will not be accepted

  • Australia-based: ABN or, for non-company based entity: Identification number (such as a Passport or Driver's Licence)
  • Non Australia-based: Enterprise Unified Social Credit Identifier (USCI) type for country of origin or, for non-company based entity: Identification number (such as a Passport or Driver's Licence)
Consignee

Telephone or fax number - email will not be accepted

  • Specific consignee name
  • Specific consignee contact number
  • Unified Social Credit Identifier (USCI) or, for non-company based entity: Identification number (such as a Passport or Driver's Licence)

To help you meet these new requirements, we’ve been working hard to ensure our qantasfreight.com Data Capture functionality can accommodate them.
