An update to pet transport with Qantas Freight

After careful consideration and in consultation with a number of experts, regulatory authorities and accredited specialist pet transport agents, Qantas Freight has decided to temporarily suspend new bookings for selected pet breeds which are considered high risk. The temporary suspension will apply to any new bookings for full or cross-breed brachycephalic (snub-nosed) pets listed below. The temporary suspension is effective from midnight, 17 January 2020 (AEDT) and will be in place until we have completed our review and work with the experts to ensure we adopt appropriate policies in the interests of pet welfare and safety.

Customers with existing bookings made before midnight, 17th January 2020 (AEDT) for pet breeds contained in the list below are not affected by this new policy and can travel as booked. However, if you’re concerned about your pet’s travel, you can cancel or amend your booking during the suspension period without penalty. If this applies to you, simply email Qantas Freight and quote your AWB number and the best number to call you on. We'll contact you to discuss any changes required.

More information on how to best prepare your pet for travel with us this summer can be found here and you can view our media release here.
