Booking with us directly

Before proceeding with your booking, please ensure you have the following information and requirements ready:

  1. Import permit number issued by the Australian Quarantine (PEQ)
  2. Prepayment receipt from PEQ
  3. Kennel dimensions (length, width, height)
  4. Shipper's details
  5. Consignee details (person collecting the pet from quarantine)
  6. Emergency contact

Additionally, ensure that payment for the stay and lodging at the Mickleham Post Entry Quarantine (PEQ) Facility has been made. If payment is still pending, you can process it using the following details:

  • Flight: QF096
  • AWB: 081-0000 0000

For more information on the quarantine process in Australia, refer to the Australian Government website

On the day of departure, you will need to bring your pet to the Qantas Freight facility in Los Angeles. Please ensure your certified veterinarian submits all required documents and certificates to the USDA within the five-day window for final approval.

Please note that charges are based on the dimensions of the kennel. The kennel must:

  • be rigid and hard-sided
  • provide enough space for your pet to stand with head clearance
  • be non-collapsible and approved for air transportation

A reminder that if your pet is a brachycephalic breed, you'll need to book through an approved pet travel specialist.

We're here to help - if you have any questions or need further assistance, contact us now.

  • Animals require specialized care and handling, which is why we work to tailor the right transportation plan to meet the specific needs of your animals, ensuring they travel under the best possible conditions.

Animals include, but are not limited to, crocodiles, large reptiles (over 5kgs), race horses, zoo animals, racing pigeons, mice, day old chicks, live coral/rocks, marine animals for aquariums and research purposes, and any other animal or bird that needs a permit to travel.

Contact us for more information on animal travel.

  • Time periods are an estimate only and may be subject to change.

Your pet needs to be fit, healthy and able to cope with being confined for an extended period of time. For this reason, we recommend talking to your vet and having an assessment carried out before booking any travel arrangements. You'll need a vet certificate stating your pet is healthy enough to fly if they are older than 12 years.

We cannot accept your pet for international travel if:

    • Your puppy or kitten is less than 12 weeks old
    • If your pet appears sedated, unwell, injured, heavily pregnant or aggressive

  • Qantas Freight does not uplift active racing greyhounds. However, retired racing greyhounds can be uplifted on selected routes and must be booked through approved pet travel specialists due to the strict conditions associated with their travel.

Other breeds of dogs cannot be imported into Australia as they’re classified as ‘dangerous animals’ under Australian federal legislation, including:

    • Pit Bull and American Pit Bull Terriers
    • Dogo Argentino
    • Japanese Tosa
    • Brazilian Fila and Mastiff
    • Presa Canario

American Staffordshire Terriers (full or cross breed) must be transported in a CR-82 reinforced cage or an airline approved guard dog cage before flying. Dogs travelling with military or correctional facilities officers are considered working dogs and therefore must also travel in an airline approved guard dog cage.

  • To arrange transport for brachycephalic breeds, you'll need to book through an approved pet travel specialist. They will manage your booking and advise you of all the relevant conditions and documentation you’ll need for your pet to travel safely.

The list of brachycephalic breeds covered by this policy are listed below and apply to purebreds only:
